Trump Blames ‘Crazed Democrats’ for Unpaid TSA Agents During DHS Shutdown

President Donald Trump on Monday once again criticized Democrats over the situation facing officers of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), who continue working without full pay during the partial shutdown of the United States Department of Homeland Security. “The crazed Democrats are not allowing TSA agents to get paid,” the president wrote on Truth Social. “The deal was made a long time ago, but they broke it in order to secure funding for sanctuary cities and illegal immigrants, many of whom are hardened criminals. The Radical Left Democrats are hopeless.” The political standoff in Washington has left airport security screeners working without full pay during the busy spring break travel season. Trump’s comments came after he urged unpaid TSA officers over the weekend to continue reporting to work. He thanked them for their dedication and again blamed Democrats for prolonging the shutdown. At several airports across the country, security lines have stretched to nearly three hours. In some cities, airports have even begun requesting donations and gift cards to help unpaid TSA workers cover basic living expenses. The shutdown has now lasted more than a month. It began after funding for the Department of Homeland Security expired on Feb. 13, leading to a partial shutdown of the department starting the following day.
